There are some other things you should remember also. :
• While it is ok to express your personal styles, there are some norms you should follow. While you may have some traffic that appreciates a whacko look, you will surely repulse the bulk of your visitors if you do not follow norms. For instance, the font should be a simple Ariel or Times Roman rather than more stylish ones. Follow color contrast and codes well. For instance, a darker font on a light background is the norm. Blue fonts indicate a link and purple ones, a link that has already been visited. Stick to these!
• While it is natural to want advertisements on your page, these distract a visitor from your main message or conversion act. So minimize these at all costs.

Keep the structure of the page in mind when you are designing the landing page. The ‘inverted pyramid’ structure is perhaps the best. Under this style, you should put the conclusions and main points first, and then the lesser important information later on. This is very important because most readers do not go beyond a certain point. Finally, it is very important to keep the pages short.
