The important truth is to get noticed by search engines rather than competitors. However, not everyone knows what they need to be better at. There are certain things you need to impliment when it comes down to search engine optimization. Its not important to be the best on the internet, you need to be the best than the people you are competing on your keywords. Utilize the following terms to be number one in the search engine results.
Pick the Right Url
The first step in getting high search engine rankings begins even before you build your website. You need to pick a site name that has something to do with the products or services you will be offering. For example, if you are selling dog collars, you may not want your website named Cats_R_Us.com. You should think about the keywords you will want to target, and try to incorporate them into your site name.
Name Your Pages Correctly
When you are building your website, you should include the best page names possible. Don’t use page titles like “home page”, and “about us”. You should include your keywords in your page titles. For example instead of “Home Page” you could say “Contact Dubai Home”, or you could use “About Contact Dubai “. Try to use your keywords as much as you can when naming your web pages.
Optimize Your Meta Tags
Meta tags are an important part of getting your site ranked high in the search engines. Meta keywords and meta phrases are some of the first things that search engine spiders see when crawling your website. These should be optimized to include the keywords or phrases you think best describe your website page. Each page will have its own metas and they should be optimized for what is on that page. Make sure you keep these up to date as you make changes to pages and discontinue products or services.
Optimize Your On Page Text
If you are writing the text on your page, you should include your keywords as a natural part of the page. Do not stuff the page with keywords, but make sure they are included. On average, a good number is to include your keywords 4% of the time. This means that a 500 word page would have your keywords listed 20 times. This should be done naturally, as a part of the headers and the text. The keys should be used in a grammatically correct way and never use improper spelling.
Age of Site
While you can’t make your site older than it really is, this is something to consider. Do not change your website every few months. Some people do this. They get fed up with a site because it isn’t working and they start something new. The problem is that search engines do look at your websites age as a factor for ranking it. This doesn’t mean that a new site cannot get high ranks. It just means that in the same way you get higher ranks after months of building links, age will also raise your search engine rankings.
These are just a few of the ways you can build you site to get higher search engine rankings. There are dozens more ways today. The key is to create a user friendly site that convinces visitors to stay and buy while they are there. After all, it does no good to bring in 20,000 visitors if you can only close two sales.

In my opinion the area where so many sites fall short is in the linking. Many people separate social media, link building, podcasting, videos, reputation management, public relations and establishing them selves as an expert from search engine optimization. I contend that they are one in the same and that the off site efforts are in fact at least 70% of the game. Almost everything that is done off site can be done in the name of linking.
I do disagree with you about the changing content of a site. As long as the URL remains constant and the topic of the page does not change then the engines may in fact like it more as they find it more up to date.
Thanks for the article and best of luck in all that you do.

meta tags are no more used by any of the major search engines. Avoiding them will be best.
on site SEO, lining and inbound linking is a major factor to get your website on page one . Great intro post easy to understand.

Great post for all beginner’s, but I feel there’s lot more to be included in for SEO.
I agree with @Arizona SEO , people need to understand the importance of Off-page SEO efforts too (linking etc)
@Fadi – Meta tag’s are always important from SEO perspective, you can’t just ignore them.

Good post! In my role as a copywriter often working on web page re-writes, I’m amazed at the number of people who have not been using their title tags – at all!
Often the entire site will carry the same title tag – the name of the business. We have about 65 spaces to use there, and should use them wisely!
And this isn’t just the small and medium sized businesses that I write for – I see the same thing on sites built for nation-wide businesses.
Something else that’s often overlooked is alt tags for headers and photos. These are a great spot to add a bit of SEO “juice.”
For a future post: it looks like you need to explain the difference between tweaking your pages / adding content and creating an entirely new page. As with so many aspects of SEO, I think many people are confused about that.

@Fadi…”meta tags are no more used by any of the major search engines. Avoiding them will be best.”
Really? Since when?
As Afzal Khan and Marte Cliff touched upon, search engines index everything from the title tag all the way down to the footer navigation. Take advantage of it.

While it is true that meta tags are a lot less important than they once were, they still deserve your attention. If you’re out to maximize your performance, it does not make sense to ignore any element on your page, including your meta tags. Keeping them relevant to your keywords and content will be one more positive element on your site.
Do remember though that optimizing your meta tags are just a small step. Paying attention to the full package — your external links, title tags, urls, alt text, and other seo elements — is your best way to really make things happen. Not a big job, but it does take time and ongoing attention.

Another easy and very important thing to do is to submit your site to the local searchs on google, yahoo and msn (bing) also on this wordpress install you need to go to your settings and turn off the title words at the top so they don’t show on top of your top banner photo.

Hi, very interesting post, the matter Age of Site for me is new, and I really don’t think this is important on SEO, for me the most important parameters are:
1. The link popularity parameter, means link to your site, that have to come from sites with Google rank over 5.
2. The site content have to be well related to your meta title and meta description, and yes meta tags still matters. This is the relevance parameter.
3. Your links out, be sure that your site link out no more than 3 links and to web sites with page rank over 6.
Any way, nice post, hope to read more.
