What is pinging?
Pinging is the process that notifies about the site updates to blog tracking system. How does pinging works? Ping service scans the blogs for regular update. When there is a new update for a specific blog, the updates are notified to the pinging service’s site. Ping services are just like search engine spiders, both scan the sites for new updates or information and report that updates to their particular site. The only difference is that ping service only reports back new blog updates and posts.

Pinging also helps in improving the traffic to your blogs by informing the blog updates to the followers. The followers who visit the sites with pinging services, they get this information in the form of a scroll on the left or right side, or may be on top of the page.
